Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to produce two and three-dimensional glass objects using kiln-forming methods; use kiln-forming techniques to make coloured and specific glasses; confidently predict and interpret results of kiln firings; be able to use a range of kiln types and firing methods as appropriate for required outcomes; be able to research the work and working methods of (kiln-forming) glass artists.
Synopsis This subject introduces new methods of kiln-forming glass. Emphasis is on interpretation of ideas and designs developed in 'Glass practice and theory' or APA2410. The fortnightly seminar gives students the opportunity for discussion of technical, technological and aesthetic issues as they relate to studio projects.
Assessment Assigned projects: 60% - Research project: 40%
