Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should confidently handle glassmaking techniques and finishing methods which realise their artistic intentions; be able to clearly communicate ideas orally and in written form as well as interpret ideas into visual images in glass; appreciate the role of the artist in contemporary society and be able to defend a personal view of glass art in this context; participate in group discussion and debate with a high degree of understanding of contemporary cultural discourse.
Synopsis Students develop an individual program in conjunction with the lecturer that reflects their personal direction and evolving art practice. The program focuses on clear articulation of concepts; studio sessions guide the interpretation of these concepts to conclusive outcomes. Students independently explore new ideas, test developing theories and gain feedback from peers within the critical and supportive forum of the studio.
