3 points - 2 hours and 4 independent study hours per week - First semester - Peninsula - Prerequisites: APA2211 - Corequisites: None - Elective

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to design and build a kiln for specific firing purposes; be familiar with refractory materials; the ability to be able to build kilns with imagination, inventiveness and originality; possess the skills to fire kilns with competency and safety.

Synopsis Formal lectures, practical work and research further advance students' kiln designing processes, practical skills and technical knowledge. Students are encouraged to research, analyse and discuss issues related to both the practical and the theoretical content of this elective subject.
