Glass design

3 points - 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week - Second semester - Caulfield - Prerequisites: None - Corequisites: None - Elective

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have a working knowledge of the principles and elements of design theory; be able to apply design theory to explore a range of practical design options; have a broad knowledge of contemporary glass art and analyse it in terms of design criteria; understand contemporary design issues with particular reference to glass.

Synopsis Theories of design are explored critically and applied to two and three-dimensional practical projects in studio sessions. Assignments investigate the nexus between concept, design, material and finished object in contemporary practice. Students are expected to undertake independent research into contemporary design issues.

Assessment Folio: 80% - Assigned projects: 20%
