A candidate may be enrolled on either a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time candidature is generally for a period of four years whilst part-time candidates have up to eight years to submit. Extensions are rarely given beyond the maximum completion timeframes. Candidates whether full-time or part-time must be able to attend the university regularly.

The school offers a masters degree by research. Entry to the course is subject to the proposed research being within the capacity of the applicant and the school in terms of supervision and resources.
The course may be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis. The maximum duration of candidature is three years full-time or five years part-time, and candidates whether full-time or part-time must be able to attend the university regularly.
Prospective students are advised to contact the chair or secretary of the Postgraduate Committee in Gippsland for further information on eligibility and application procedures.
