Deferments

Coursework HECS-based programs

If unable to accept the offer of a place in first semester, applicants should reapply the following year.

Students offered a place in a full-fee program may, with the permission of their department or centre and the approval of the faculty defer the start of their canditature until second semester 1998.

Combined research/coursework masters programs

Students offered a place in a combined research/coursework Master of Arts or Master of Environmental Science program may, with the permission of their department or centre and the approval of the faculty, defer their candidature until the start of second semester 1998.

100 per cent research students

Students accepted for a place in 100 per cent Master of Arts, Master of Bioethics or Master of Social Work program, may, with the permission of their department or centre and the approval of the faculty, start their candidature at any time of the year. Students offered a place in 1998 cannot, however, defer the commencent date of their candidature until 1999.

PhD candidates

PhD candidates are permitted to defer the commencement date of candidature for a period of up to twelve months.
