About this handbook

Students at Monash University need advice about their rights and responsibilities, as well as information on the services and facilities available on each campus.

This handbook contains campus maps, explains how to get into and out of a subject, when money is owed and when it is refunded. It lists useful contact phone numbers and names of university officers, and gives a brief history of the university and a guide to the academic dress of the university. The faculty handbooks contain subject and course descriptions, including a brief outline of each subject, prerequisites, contact hours, and references. Subject timetables are published separately.

The handbook does not include many formal statutes and regulations. Course regulations are provided in faculty handbooks, and the university Calendar, which is available for reference at each departmental and faculty office, Student Relations and Inquiries, the main library, student association offices on each campus, and through the Campus-Wide Information Server (info.monash.edu.au).

Read this publication carefully - departments assume that students will be aware of any information published here or in a faculty handbook. Any changes will be publicised through news sheets, student newspapers, and on the university noticeboards.

Any suggestions for material to be included in next year's Student information handbook may be sent to Graphic Services and Publishing, Science Park, Clayton campus.
