Objectives On completion of the subject, students should have obtained a familiarity and awareness of the Australian political process; demonstrate an appreciation and application of the diverse factors involved in the health care policy making process; gained a recognition of the potential role of nursing in the formulation of policies in health care beyond the immediate area of nursing politics.
Synopsis Provides an applied sociological perspective to those aspects of nursing practice involved in the processes of affecting change in a variety of contexts in health care; introduces students to the procedures and processes involved in the formulation and implementation of policies associated with health care within the Australian political system.
Assessment Tutorial participation: 15% * Group tutorial presentation and paper: 60% * Examination: 25%
