Objectives On completion of this subject students are expected to understand the psychological components of acute and chronic illness; describe interventions appropriate for the psychological care of those who are acutely or chronically ill.
Synopsis Psychological factors in the onset and course of chronic and acute illness. Psychological assessment of cognitive, emotional and mood states in illness. Psychological issues in the treatment of chronic and acute illness. Psychological adjustments to chronic and acute illness and their aftermath. The subject is taught by lectures and seminars.
Assessment Workshop report: 30% * Examination: 70%
