Objectives At the completion of the subject the student will be expected to identify a research question; develop a research plan; identify and address issues of data analysis; conduct and participate in research seminars and workshops; present a research proposal; identify and address ethical issues relevant to the research proposal and apply to ethics committees for research approval as necessary.
Synopsis The subject will provide students with the opportunity to develop, under supervision, a research proposal, an application for access to research participants and the required ethics applications. It also deals with responsibilities of student and supervisor and issues associated with research supervision and continue to pursue statistical issues.
Assessment Research proposal (3000 words): 50% * Ethics application: 15% * Seminar presentation: 15% * Data analysis and computer exercises: 20%
