Synopsis This subject will provide a detailed review of methods of studying drug utilisation and drug safety. Topics covered will include data sources and their limitations, defined daily dose extrapolations, spontaneous report monitoring and its limitations, application of formal epidemiological study design to postmarketing surveillance, the background to recent drug safety problems, record linkage and regulation of drugs.
