Applied mathematics in chemical engineering
3 points * 18 lectures, 6 tutorials * Clayton * Prerequisites: MAT3910, MAT3930
Objectives The student is expected to become more proficient in the ability to use mathematics to analyse relatively complex systems relevant to chemical engineering. Selected published papers will be used to illustrate how analytical and numerical techniques have been applied to solve problems in the chemical processing industry.
Synopsis Topics will depend on staff and student interest. Some of the following will be selected: non-linear dynamics, numerical methods for partial differential equations, optimisation methods, data analysis, analysis of special equations.
Assessment Project: 60% * Assignments: 40%
