Objectives To gain a fundamental and practical understanding of the properties and applications of electrical and optical properties of polymers.

Synopsis Ionically conducting polymers. Electronically conducting polymers (eg polypyrrole, polyaniline). Conductive polymer composites. Percolation and its dependence on filler and matrix properties. Conductivity-dielectric relationships. Applications of conductive polymers. Optical properties of polymers.
