Surfaces I

Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of corrosion at surfaces, protection of surfaces and bonding at surfaces.
Synopsis Corrosion of surfaces: chemical and electrochemical properties of interfaces; localised corrosion; protection of surfaces; techniques of protection; organic and inorganic surface treatments; bonding at surfaces; thermodynamics of surfaces; thermodynamics of interfaces; adhesion and mechanical properties.
