Objectives The student is expected to acquire a broad knowledge of a range of medical technology used in modern medical practice and gain an appreciation of the issues that impact on the innovation, design, development and manufacture of that technology.
Synopsis Introduction to the process of design and innovation with particular reference to medical technology. The design, development and manufacture of medical technology taking into consideration safety and effectiveness issues, regulatory and legal issues, the patient equipment interface and the hospital or medical environment in which the equipment is to be used.
Assessment Innovation workshop: 50% * Design assignment: 50%
