Objectives The student is expected to acquire a further understanding of the laws of thermodynamics and the applications of these laws to the analysis of power cycles and refrigeration cycles; the calculation of heat effects and equilibrium in chemical reactions; the analysis of electrochemical cells.
Synopsis Properties of substances; the laws of thermodynamics and their applications; entropy; power cycles; refrigeration cycles; cryogenics; chemical reactions - heat effects and equilibrium; electrochemical cells.
Assessment Examinations: 85% * Laboratory: 15%
