Objectives The aim of this subject is to expose students to current best practice in using computers in simulation and computer aided production planning.

Synopsis WITNESS simulation techniques. Introduction, physical elements (parts, buffers, conveyors, machines, vehicles, labour). Control elements (attributes, variables) and distributions (standard, user defined, random number streams). Advanced features. Automated process planning (generative technique), design data and automated process planning, examples of existing automated process planning.

Assessment Major assignment: 35% * Coursework and unit tests: 65%
