Fluid dynamics

Objectives Students are expected to acquire an understanding of the physics related to the flow of fluids and knowledge of the methods used to analyse fluid flow.
Synopsis Topics included are properties of fluids and their relationships - particular emphasis will be given to gases and gas laws; introduction to fluid statics; introduction to fluid dynamics, the Bernoulli equation; system laws, the conservation of mass, energy and momentum; energy loss in fluid systems; introduction to lift and drag with particular emphasis on their relationship to aerodynamics.
Assessment Examination (3 hours):70% * Assignments and laboratory reports: 30%
