Traffic systems and computer applications

Objectives The student is expected to acquire an appreciation of the application of advanced technology in transport and traffic including knowledge and understanding of component hardware and software as well as issues relevant to evaluation and implementation.

Synopsis Hardware and software; vehicle detectors, computer and communications hardware, computer software, roadside signs and in-vehicle devices; development of systems from component technologies; evaluation and implementation issues: effectiveness, efficiency, cost, public and private sector roles, user behaviour, legal issues.

Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 50% * Other assessment: 50%
