Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of moral education.
Synopsis Teaching about moral and social issues raises many conceptual and ethical problems. This subject is designed to examine a range of such topics. Theories about the development of moral reasoning, the justification of evaluative assumptions, relations between moral and religious education, the possibility of a neutral approach in teaching, and the idea of values clarification will be discussed during the subject. We will look not only at moral education understood as a subject in its own right, but also at the presence of value questions across the curriculum.
