Synopsis This subject is offered as an intensive immersion program on location in China or Indonesia. The subject is designed for teachers of an Asian language who seek to increase their mastery of that language and to develop curriculum materials for use in the classrooms. Goals include knowledge of an Asian language as it is interpreted and taught by Asians, and increased oral fluency as a result of direct engagement in the experience of life in an Asian environment. Program structure varies from country to country but includes classes and tutorials five days a week as well as some weekend excursions. An important feature of the program is that students have the support of individual tutors who are native speakers of the Asian language being studied.
