Teaching and curriculum studies 4 (double secondary methods)

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have gained an understanding of major issues in secondary education in classroom management, school organisation and administration, curriculum development; explored and examine teaching method issues appropriate to their degree majors and submajors; developed a personal, professional outlook based on a thorough examination of issues in teaching; developed competency as classroom teachers.

Synopsis This subject provides secondary school teaching expertise in two secondary teaching areas and a secondary practicum for students in the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Education four-year dual degree program. Students will undertake a weekly session of two hours which will include workshops, simulations, seminars and sessions by visiting speakers on topics related to practical and theoretical issues in secondary education. Students will be provided with specialised materials in two methods which relate to their undergraduate major and submajors. Students will engage in a supervised practicum.
