Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to demonstrate skills and understanding in structuring a research proposal; conducting literature surveys; the roles that computers may play in research; how to use descriptive statistics in research; action research; qualitative and quantitative research approaches including observations, interviewing, questionnaires, concept maps (drawings), POEs, journals (thinking books); ethical issues associated with research in education.
Synopsis The focus of this subject is to encourage students to consider their own ideas about research and to recognise that research findings can be used to help improve educational outcomes. Students will be introduced to a range of methods for conducting research, as well as some of the major issues associated with attempting research in education.
Assessment Folio of research tasks: 70%
