Objectives At the completion of this subject students should know about the issues related to the development of EIS; understand the nature of executive work; and be able to become an effective member of an EIS development team; appreciate the impact of an EIS upon the organisation and its users.
Synopsis This subject will investigate the nature of executive information systems (EIS) and the issues which need to be considered for their development. Topics include the definition of an EIS; initiating an EIS project; eliciting information requirements (Critical Success Factor (CSF) approach, Strategic Business Functions (SBF) approach); EIS architecture; Data Management (multi-dimensional modelling, OLAP, data warehousing), EIS development methodologies, EIS design issues; Change management and organisational issues. Case studies and EIS tools will also be used for practical work.
Assessment Practical exercises: 25%
