Objectives At the completion of this subject students should know and understand current management theory and how it relates to recordkeeping services; be able to plan, budget for and market a new program; be able to measure and evaluate information services; be able to work effectively in a team; and be able to communicate recordkeeping perspectives to associated business and professional groups.
Synopsis This subject develops general management skills and an understanding of their application to records management and archival policy, program and system development, service delivery, program marketing and promotional activities. It introduces resource management techniques in business planning, program budgeting, people management and staff development, buildings and facilities management, and managing technological change. Alternative models are considered. A program of guest speakers and visits complements the subject.
Assessment Individual assignment: 20%
* Two group assignments: 40%
