Objectives At the completion of this subject students should be able to understand the business strategies of different organisations, appreciate the structure and functionality of operations management software, describe the essential aspects of contemporary production systems, apply some of the modern analytical techniques, and understand the quality standards.
Synopsis This subject studies general concepts of operations management in manufacturing and service organisations and introduces computer software systems in a management context. Topics include financial calculations, production planning and control, service industry planning and control, just-in-time techniques, management aspects of electronic data interchange, and quality management issues.
Assessment Assignments: 40%
