Objectives On completion of the subject, students should be able to write a clear set of technical instructions, descriptions and arguments; conduct library research for technical information; demonstrate an understanding of basic English grammar; and write clear documentation.

Synopsis Topics covered include introduction to communication; library research; summarising skills; grammar; software documentation; report writing; memos; writing to persuade; ethics; collaborative writing; meetings; electronic conferencing; spreadsheet graphics.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70%
* Writing assignment: 20%
* Documentation assignment 10%
* One compulsory library assignment (hurdle requirement)
