The aim of the Graduate Certificate in Decision Support Systems is to provide graduate students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to the appropriate application of information technology to the support of management decision making. Topics covered in the course include identification of decision problems, analysis and description of the nature of decision problems, alternative decision support systems designs, techniques and methods relevant to decision support. Graduates are expected to work as management support specialists and consultants.
Note that the Graduate Certificate Diploma in Decision Support Systems forms the first half of the Graduate Diploma in Decision Support Systems and that students may progress to Graduate Diploma with full credit for their study.
$1000 per subject.
The normal admission requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Decision Support Systems is a recognised bachelor degree with relevant subjects in computing or information systems or an equivalent qualification. Up to 25 per cent of each entry may not satisfy this requirement but will have extensive high quality industry experience in information systems.
Typically six months full time, or one year part-time study.
Students will be required to complete twenty-four credit points of study comprising eighteen points of core subjects and six points of electives.
Core subjects to be advised, but will consist of a nominated selection of three subjects to be taken from the offerings of the Graduate Diploma in Decision support systems and will include SYS4120 (Decision support systems) and SYS4170 (Executive information systems).
