Executive Certificate in Accounting

The objective of this course is to provide an integrated introductory
course of studies in accounting for non-graduates who have appropriate
employment experience. This course is offered on-campus by the Syme Department
of Accounting and by distanced education by the School of Business and
Electronic Commerce.
On completion, successful candidates should have:
- an understanding and appreciation of fundamental accounting techniques;
- practical and analytical skills in accounting and related areas;
- an understanding of the role and the processes involved in accounting and
its relationship with the overall management of an organisation;
- developed communication and research skills designed to improve analysis
and reporting of standard accounting information within an organisation;
- the skills, opportunity and encouragement to progress to further studies
in accounting at the graduate level.

This course will be offered on-campus at the Caulfield campus and by
distance education at the Gippsland campus.
Two semesters of part-time study. Normally a student will study two
subjects per semester.
Students may select four subjects from the following list:
- ACC9500 Introductory accounting and financial information systems I
- ACC9510 Quantitative methods
- ACC9521 Introductory accounting and financial information systems II
- ACC9530 Economics
- ACC9601 Financial accounting I
- ACC9611 Managerial accounting
- ACC9621 Auditing
- ACC9631 Financial accounting II
- ACC9641 Business finance
Students may select four subjects from the following list:
- GBU8014 Introductory accounting
- GBU8015 Economic policy
- GBU8016 Quantitative methods
- GBU8017 Accounting for management information
- GBU8021 Financial accounting
- GBU8024 Business finance
- GBU8026 Accounting theory and current issues
- GBU8027 Auditing
