Scholarships


AHMAC (Health Economics) Scholarships

Scholarships are available to students who have a Bachelor of Economics degree or equivalent. The scholarship pays full time tuition for the Graduate Diploma in Health Economics and Evaluation. In addition, a stipend of $13,100 tax free is provided. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, but the selection committee may take into account other factors such as suitability for a career in health economics. Candidates for the scholarship must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

AIM (Gippsland Branch) George Bates Scholarship

The AIM (Gippsland Branch) George Bates Scholarship is awarded to an Australian citizen or permanent resident who has completed his/her secondary schooling as a Gippsland resident, and who is enrolled on the Gippsland campus. The student should be in his/her final year of a Gippsland BBus degree with a management major or have completed a Gippsland BBus with a anagement major within the last twelve months, and be admitted to the honours program. The scholarship totals $2500 in two equal payments of $1250 towards study in the management honours program (final year).

Australian Paper Manufacturers Scholarship

The Australian Paper Manufacturers awards a scholarship of $1000 to full time students undertaking studies in the Bachelor of Business degree at Gippsland. The scholarship is awarded to encourage and assist students to complete their course and to consider continuing into the honours year. It is awarded on the basis of academic merit to students in the first, second or third year of the course who proceed into a full-time year of study.

Bankers Trust Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students undertaking the honours year within a specialisation taught by the Faculty of Business and Economics on the Clayton campus.

The scholarship is awarded to encourage and assist students to complete an honours specialisation in the field of economics, commerce or business. It is awarded on the basis of academic merit but the selection committee may also take into account other factors such as potential suitability for the investment banking industry. The value of the scholarship shall be $4000 for one year.

Candidates for the scholarship must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Students who are invited to undertake fourth year honours receive by mail an application form for the scholarship.

Coal Corporation of Victoria/Energy Brix Australia Scholarship

The Coal Corporation of Victoria awards a scholarship of $1000 to full-time students undertaking studies in the Bachelor of Business degree at Gippsland. The scholarship is awarded to assist and encourage students to continue their studies and to consider continuing into the honours year. It is awarded on the basis of academic merit and is available to first, second and third-year students of the course who proceed into a full-time year of study.

Helen M Schutt Trust Scholarship

These scholarships are offered every year to honours, masters and doctor of philosophy students in the Department of Business Management. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and capacity to carry out research. The departmental scholarships committee writes to students inviting applications each year.

KPMG Accounting Honours Scholarship

KPMG sponsors a scholarship for students undertaking the honours year in the Department of Accounting and Finance. The scholarship is offered in two formats. In the first format students enrol to complete their honours year of study on a part time basis over two years. During the period of the scholarship the holder will be employed by Monash University to take tutorials on a sessional basis in Department of Accounting and Finance. The scholarship is valued at up to $10,000 per annum. In the second format a scholarship to the value of $5000 per annum may be awarded to a student who undertakes the honours year of study on a full time basis. This amount will be paid in two instalments. The scholarship also provides for students to be offered vacation employment with KPMG. Mission Energy Honours Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business (Honours) with the School of Business and Electronic Commerce. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of prior academic performance. The selection committee comprising of the head of the School of Business and Electronic Commerce, director of the honours program and two members of teaching staff. The value of the scholarship totals $1000. Payment will be paid in two equal parts of $500.

Monash University Price Waterhouse Accounting and Finance Honours Scholarship

This scholarship is offered every year by Price Waterhouse to encourage and assist students to pursue honours studies in accounting and/or finance. The scholarship totals $9000 - comprising $3000 awarded at third-year level and $6000 for the honours year.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in the third year Bachelor of Commerce subjects which permit progress to the Bachelor of Commerce (honours) degree in accounting and/or finance. Candidates for the scholarship must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Students are selected for interview for the scholarship based on their overall academic performance in the first two years of the Bachelor of Commerce course. The Department of Accounting and Finance will initially select the students. The winner of the scholarship will be chosen on the following criteria: overall academic achievement, personal motivation for completing the honours year and the ability to promote the honours year among fellow students.

NSW Health Traineeship

This traineeship is available to students who have a Bachelor of Economics degree or equivalent and provides full-time tuition for coursework in the Graduate Diploma in Health Economics and Evaluation. In addition, it provides employment as a health economist in New South Wales over a further two years. Preference for the traineeships will be given to residents of NSW.

Quantum International Scholarship in Transnational Business

This scholarship is open to Bachelor of Business (Marketing) students who are interested in transnational marketing. This includes the emerging home shopping and infomercial industries. The emphasis of the scholarship is on helping students to develop an international perspective on the significance and opportunities associated with these industries.

The scholarship provides for a return airfare to London and a salary whilst the successful applicant is in a training position at Quantum International Ltd. The duration of the scholarship is open to negotiation but could be in the order of two to six months. In 1993, the scholarship was worth in the order of $40,000. The scholarship holder is given the opportunity to work with the chief executive and other senior personnel within Quantum International.

Sidwell Scholarship

At the end of each year the Syme Department of Marketing will nominate a short-list of outstanding second and/or final year Bachelor of Business (Marketing) students who intend to pursue a career in advertising.

These students will be interviewed by a scholarship selection committee comprising those associated with Bill Sidwell, members of the advertising industry, the head of the Syme Department of Marketing and the dean of the faculty.

The selection committee will consider documentation provided by the candidates and will invite them to explain how their career development could be accelerated and enhanced. Based on this information the committee will determine who should be supported and the manner of that support.

It is envisaged that financial support will be provided for initiatives such as attendance at an international advertising conference, secondment to a North American or Asian advertising agency or participation in an overseas marketing study tour.
