Strategic management in the public sector

Objectives Students are expected to acquire a clear understanding of strategic management as practiced by public sector and non-government bodies and their senior managers.

Synopsis The subject will focus on the process of strategic management, drawing on a broad range of practitioner experience and local and overseas case studies. Emphasis will be placed on the acquisition of case study skills, and the analysis of recent public sector and non-government organisation successes and failures from a strategic management perspective.

Assessment A case study prepared as a member of a syndicate: 50%
* Individual case study or 3000-word essay: 50%
