Objectives On completion of this subject students should have developed an understanding of the theory of finance to enable the evaluation of investment, financing and dividend decisions of the firm; be familiar with the application of analytical techniques of a variety of problems in domestic corporate financial management; be familiar with the institutional framework so that they can appreciate the environment in which financial decisions are made; have developed an awareness of the techniques involved in dealing with foreign exchange exposures.
Synopsis Topics include dividend policy capital structure and financing decisions, leasing as a source of finance, measurement and use of the cost of capital, management of fixed interest investments, futures and options, mergers and acquisitions, international financial management.
Assessment Mid-semester test: 20%
* Examination (3 hours): 80%
