Objectives On completion of this subject students will be able to interpret financial statements, explain financial concepts such as profitability and liquidity, assess profitability, evaluate capital investment plans, manage working capital and apply accounting techniques to evaluate financial performance.

Synopsis This subject aims to develop the skills and concepts required by business managers to use accounting data to evaluate the performance of an organisation; to enable students to evaluate the financial implications of strategies and actions; to expose students to a range of accounting techniques which can be used in their information base for decision making; to provide students with an understanding of the underlying concepts and methodology of the accounting function.

Assessment Three assignments: 45%
* Examination (3 hours): 55%
