Objectives On completion of this subject students will be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the management role and the crucial contribution that managers make to organisational effectiveness; demonstrate an understanding of the major behavioural science theories and concepts relating to the behaviour, performance, and productivity of individuals and groups in organisations; and identify a range of individual, group and organisational factors affecting individual and work group performance and productivity within a systems model.
Synopsis Revision of systems theory. Individual behaviour, including personality, perception, attitudes, learning, motivation. Group behaviour including group structure, norms, roles, decision making, leadership and power. Organisational behaviour including structure, design and organisational culture.
Assessment Major assignment (2000 words): 40%
* Three group
presentations: 15%
* Six short papers (200-400 words): 45%
