Public sector financial management

Objectives On completion of the subject students should be able to evaluate the appropriateness of financial management information systems in public sector reporting; explain the budgetary systems and control mechanisms required for effective planning and reporting of public sector activities; and understand the financial reporting requirements of the public sector.

Synopsis Evaluation of appropriateness and adequacy of public sector reporting systems; assess alternative systems, in particular the role and scope of accounting systems, in order to provide more timely and accurate information for performance measurement.

Assessment Assignment: 20%
* Examination: 80%
