Objectives Upon completion of this subject students will have examined the relevant legislation, case law and other references applicable to property law and relevant aspects of commercial law, and applied the principles arising from those sources through consideration of a range of relevant case studies and class exercises.
Synopsis This subject aims to provide a background in property and commercial law suitable for studies in taxation. It covers the basic principles of property law including the various types of property, the various interests in property which may be held and the methods of acquiring and disposing of such interests and succession of property upon death. The subject also examines relevant principles of commercial law including the law of partnerships, trusts and companies, contract law and insolvency law.
Assessment Either assignment (2000 words): 20%
