Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to understand the different ways of managing and organising work to achieve greater commitment, better team work and higher productivity; demonstrate an ability to effectively lead and/or work within a project team/task force; identify organisational change components and be aware of the processes available to implement successful change at the macro level; demonstrate an awareness of productivity management; managerial planning and decision making.
Synopsis This subject continues directly on from DEM1300 and focuses on the process of management at the macro level of organisational analysis. Students will explore and examine present and evolving management issues and their application to a competitive and rapidly changing environment. Topics covered include organisational effectiveness, ethics, organisational structure and design, leadership, operations management, team building, goals and plans, power and politics, organisational culture and change and innovation.
Assessment Individual Case Study (2000 words): 30%

* Final examination (3 hours): 50%
