Objectives Students will develop a broad understanding of the culture, relevant issues and practice dilemmas in two different areas of social welfare practice as well as an awareness of the centrality of values, their own, and those of the clients and workers, in social welfare practice and the way in which they can colour perceptions of practice issues.
Synopsis This subject consists of different modules focusing on particular areas of social welfare practice from which students will select two to study over the semester. The modules on offer in 1996 are anti-racist practice, disability, protective services and violence against women. There will be a focus on the legal context of practice within these different areas.
