Objectives On successful completion of this subject students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of a range of practices involved in electronic media production through practical instruction and critical analysis; teamwork and cooperation in media production; skills in recording, editing and compiling of electronic media products for current affairs and news formats; familiarity with the responsibilities of journalists in the representation of cultural diversity in news and current affairs.
Synopsis This subject will explore the role of news and current affairs in society. Issues of the production of meaning by news format and editing will be considered. It will address the issues of news production and journalism field work in electronic media. Students will be instructed in the use of video and sound recording equipment and analogue and digital editing.
