Objectives Students in this subject can expect to acquire and develop the capacity to choose a topic for research; work independently in collecting and collating material relating to the research topic; construct an argument that demonstrates a capacity for independent thought and an ability to integrate theoretical concerns and empirical findings; and present the results of the research in a clearly written and logically argued dissertation.
Synopsis All students will be required to write a dissertation on an approved topic. Each student will be allocated a supervisor with whom they will meet regularly. The thesis is worth 50% of the total grade. Assessment of the thesis is by departmental members.
