Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should be familiar with the theories of Piaget and Erikson on cognitive and psychosocial stages of development; have acquired a knowledge of recent researches on language development, moral development, language, intelligence, and dynamics of family structure; understand the relationship between physiological and psychological accounts of the developmental process; be competent in the use of statistical techniques for hypothesis testing, including parametric and non-parametric methods.
Synopsis Personality: a comparative study of the theories of Adler, Jung, Eysenck, Kelly, Maslow and Rogers. Interpersonal behaviour: small group formation, leadership and performance. Attitude formation and change. Person perception. Attribution theory. Aggression and assertive behaviour. Organisational behaviour. Research design and analysis. The nature of measurement, single-subject designs, experimental research designs, survey sampling, random and stratified sampling, cluster and two-stage sampling. An introduction to SPSS.
