Objectives Students successfully completing this subject will have a thorough understanding of a number of issues in value theory, including issues in ethics, political philosophy, and philosophy of law. They will have a good understanding of both the meta-ethical and normative considerations relevant to these issues; and will be ready to take and defend a position for themselves.
Synopsis As with PHL4860, this subject will further explore foundational issues in contemporary value theory. A reading list may be obtained from the department.
Assessment Written (6000 words): 100%
* Option of a 3000-word essay
and a 3-hour examination
