examination of MUS2990

admission into MUS3980 and MUS3990 may take MUS3510 and MUS3520 or MUS3660 and
MUS3670 for 6 points each.
Objectives Upon completion of this subject students should have gained greater expertise in the performance of selected repertoire from a wide range of periods and performed music from the solo and chamber repertoire, establishing artistic links between pieces.
Synopsis With assigned studio teachers and department staff, students are required to prepare a chief practical study program totalling about twenty minutes and a chief practical study chamber music program totalling about ten minutes in duration. The chief practical study program should include works of varied periods and at least one movement of a multimovement work. Students must perform chamber and/or solo works and participate in orchestral or choral ensembles, as directed, in concert practice or other approved concert situations. The subject includes program writing, musicianship and instrument teaching skills. Students are required to write critical, analytical and historical annotations in the context of the relevant literature. Students need to practice at least three hours per day.
Assessment Written (2000 words): 15%
