Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should have developed a recognition of what distinguishes contemporary literature in English from the literature of preceding periods; a grounding in the nature of the social circumstances and cultural conditions in which contemporary literature is produced and an understanding of some of the critical problems involved in treating texts as both reflectors and shapers of current thinking.
Synopsis The subject will examine representative examples of drama, poetry and fiction from the present generation.
