Performance practice

Objectives Students taking this subject should develop an awareness of the multiple facets of the production process, and a familiarity with both customary problems and appropriate procedure for their solution. They should also acquire skills related to those processes, and the capacity to theorise, analyse and evaluate all elements of the production process with which they have a primary involvement.

Synopsis `Performance practice' will provide a wide-ranging introduction to, and involvement in, all the processes of bringing a script/production concept from the stage of initial planning to public presentation. Its focus will be not only on the quality of individual contribution, but on the student's capacity to reflect on and analyse the processes.

Assessment Evaluation of the quality of production contribution by a monitoring panel: 50%
* Essay/project (3000 words or equivalent) providing detailed documentation and analysis of a particular area of the production process with which the student has been involved: 50%

As appropriate to the selected performance project.
