Prerequisites: MGR2220
Objectives Students are expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the differing requirements of various kinds of translation (literary prose, poetry, discursive writing, official documents); sensitivity to register and idiom when translating; awareness of the limitations of `literal' translation; and the ability to achieve conceptual and stylistic accuracy.
Synopsis The subject is designed to teach the skills required to translate both creative and discursive texts from Greek to English and vice versa.
Assessment Examination (1.5 hours): 50%
