Synopsis and objectives The dissertation comprises around 10,000 words on an appropriate topic selected by students in consultation with the subject coordinators. It is regarded as a culminating test of students' ability to produce, in respect of a significant archaeological topic or theme, an extended piece of analytical, critical and creative work that reflects: (i) systematic and comprehensive data collection, (ii) consistent and sound methodology, (iii) clear and coherent organisation of content, (iv) cogent and convincing argument and (v) good literary presentation.
