Objectives Students should have gained a knowledge of the development of Egyptian culture through periods of internationalism and expansion to its conquest by successive foreign powers.
Synopsis This subject entails the study of the ancient Egypt from the rise of the New Kingdom until its conquest by Rome. It will follow the same general themes and format as ARY2970 but will also include a study of the international character of Egyptian culture throughout the period and examine Egypt's relations with the other Near Eastern and Mediterranean cultures. It will look at changes which occurred within Egypt as a result of foreign contact and invasion.
