Objectives Upon successfully completing this course students should have achieved strengthened oral and written analytic skills concerning issues relevant to contemporary Indonesian society.
Synopsis Passages of non-literary prose selected from the print media are critically examined, translated and discussed. One hour is devoted to an examination of issues relevant to contemporary Indonesian society. Such issues are introduced via videotaped materials and discussed in Indonesian, to enhance students aural-oral, as well as analytic skills.
Assessment Written (1000 words): 20%
* Examinations (2 hours): 40%
* Practical work/oral: 40%
