Objectives On successful completion of this subject students should develop written and spoken skills appropriate for professional and vocational purposes.
Synopsis This subject provides advanced language students with training and first-hand experience in the usage of Chinese for professional purposes through participation in the production of Hanyu Jiaoxue (Learning Chinese), an English-Chinese newspaper. Entry into the subject is competitive and strictly limited to twelve places per semester. Students will be assessed by members of the Department of Asian Languages and Studies. The internship may be taken as part of CHI3410/3420 (Advanced Chinese parts 1 and/or 2) or CHI3510/3520 (Advanced Chinese parts 3 and/or 4). In these cases, students will not formally enrol for the internship and will be exempt from some `Advanced Chinese' assessment.
